SCA Coaches' Certification
The SCA now has its own Coaches' Certification Program for both pom and stunt. It is now mandatory for coaches to be certified by September 30th, 2012. Our Coaches' Certification has three levels that are outlined in the Certification Information & Registration form in the Forms section of this website.
The Coaches' Certification Program is a levelled system where each coach must certify at a level before moving on to a higher level. There are 3 levels for stunt groups and one level for pom. The following is a basic breakdown of skills taught/learned at the certification levels as well as requirements needed to achieve certification. This is by no means a complete list but should give you a general idea of the skills at each level. Coaches are not required to take certification beyond the skill level of their team and must have a minimum of 100 hours of coaching at each level before moving to the next level. Individuals planning to attend a certification course, should complete a Rule Book Test beforehand and bring the answer sheet to the course. Level 1 is required by all stunt teams (both school and all star) and is a lifetime certification so you only need to take it once. Level 2 and 3 are required for school stunt coaches coaching up to those levels and recertification is required every 5 years for both. All star stunt team coaches are highly recommended to take their USASF/IASF credentialling up to the level they coach at.
Rule Book Tests
You will need to complete a Rule Book Test for each division you presently coach. Print off the Answer Sheet and bring the completed sheet to the certification course you are attending.
You will have to reference the following to complete these tests:
Note: These tests have been updated on 01/18/12 with the move to Cheer Canada's Judging Methodology this year.
